This Backlink article is a 'stub'. You can help by expanding this stub article, thanks.  :-)

Backlink is the generic term for a wiki syntax command used to describe 'incoming' links to an article or category page (or a red link article or category); as in: what other articles are linking to this particular page I'm now reading?.

Many, though not all wiki engines support backlinks; and specifically, on wiki sites powered by the now-ubiquitous MediaWiki software, it is more commonly known as 'what links here'. The backlink feature is usually found in the toolbox (or tools) section of the sidebar. It can also be accessed by using keyboard-direct command of alt-j (or shift-esc-j on an Apple Macintosh). Alternatively, a manual wikilink can be directly created using Special:WhatLinksHere (Special:WhatLinksHere/PageName).
