This Category: Wikimedia chapters is either empty, or sparsely populated,
and needs to be 'populated' with articles, stubs (and / or other categories)
relevant to the subject matter of this specific category.

Include an article page in this category via one (or more) of three methods:
a. add Wikimedia chapters in the appropriate field of its infobox template
b. 'tag' a word within the prose of the article, eg. {{tag|Wikimedia chapters}}
c. add [[Category:Wikimedia chapters]] at the bottom of its edit box.

Wikimedia chapters are legally independent non-profit organizations founded to support and promote the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) projects within a specified geographical region; such as a country[1] or state. Like the Wikimedia Foundation, they aim to "empower and engage people around the world to collect and develop educational content under a free license or in the public domain, and to disseminate it effectively and globally".

As of June 2023, there are 38 chapters[2] which currently exist (up from the 37 in existence at October 2018), with at least one chapter on every continent of the world (except Antarctica). Existing chapters sign an agreement, known as chapter agreements with the Wikimedia Foundation. Individual chapters can seek help from fellow chapters via the Wikimedia Chapters Association (WCA). New chapters are created via the Wikimedia Affiliations Committee ('AffCom', previously known as Wikimedia Chapters Committee, or 'ChapCom').

Note: those chapters below annotated 'derecognized' were previously former official chapters, but have now been 'derecognized for prolonged non-compliance'.
The red links above need the {{Wiki}} infobox template (if they have an actual wiki), their Wikimedia chapters URLs, the {{Wikimedia-stub}} template (if appropriate), and the {{Wikimedia chapters}} navigation template added.
