As of these [http://wikiindex.org/index.php?title=WikiIndex%3AServerMove&diff=185791&oldid=185763 changes] the page says that together with the move the domain will change. "they make for example http://wikiindex.org/Special:ListUsers much less useful" Isn't it the exception rather than the rule in the wikisphere that Special:ListUsers is useful? Leucosticte (talk) 23:17, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
What is happening?
As of these changes the page says that together with the move the domain will change. So this page is not just about a server move? I am utterly confused. I can live with either way, but it think must be clear what we are talking about. Why was only my vote removed and not the votes of the people voting prior to me??? --[[kgh]] (talk) 15:02, 16 November 2014 (UTC)
- I've asked Brandon to move the site from a stand alone server to the new create.wiki platform because it'll make it a lot easier to maintain and improve performance. We're hoping this goes smoothly! Separately, as the .wiki operator, we have reserved the name index.wiki and have the option to move the site to that new domain. We think it's shorter and makes sense to use .wiki vs. .com, but that said, we don't want to force this change without active contributors being onboard with it -- it is still a choice. - That's how I understood the page and there are no objections from my side to this. Thank you for clarifying. About the domain move. Since I was able to share my thoughts on this and know that they are being considered I am ok with any future decision this. No worries here. --[[kgh]] (talk) 16:10, 16 November 2014 (UTC)
- I'm not sure about the last question regarding the removal of [[kgh]]'s vote either? Raymond King | talk
- Regarding the removal of what You call a vote: I removed the name of talk from the list of "No concerns" because he expressed concerns right there. So He does have concerns. I moved those concerns to his talk page to give him chance to see I removed it and to place it at any place more suitable if he wishes to hold them up of which I was not sure because of the contradictory statement he gave. As such his name does not belong in this chapter of "no concerns". I did not consider this chapter created by me as a place to vote for anything. I created it to collect expressed abstention from voting which I found distributed around individual talk pages. The most obvious utility of this chapter is, that one does not need to wait for or ask again those persons. Manorainjan (talk) 16:03, 16 November 2014 (UTC)
Cleaning the list of accounts
This is my most recent field of interest. But I see the server move as a more important task. I do not want to conflict this tasks. I'm also not convinced, that cleaning it up prior to the move does really any good. If anybody thinks this would make any work easier, I strongly object those kind of idea. Cleaning up the user list would require quite some discussion and experimentation. What I like to add to the server move question from this angle is the question which extensions should be in the new installation in order to promote a clean user list. That would be:
- Function to really delete an account without the need of back-end access so that any designated sysop can do it.
- Blacklist against the creation of new spam account
- Functions that help administration of user accounts including high volumes of old accounts. How would the complete list be analysed, sorted, managed?

Update on the ServerMove
- Looks like the project is hanging: Index Wiki (WikiIndex mirror) since 21-01-2015
- BrandonCsSanders is not responsive.
Manorainjan (talk) 19:46, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
First, I apologize for being unresponsive ... I will be more responsive going forward. Second, the move is still intended. There are a couple of extensions that need to be ported over before the move can happen. Barring any unexpected complications that come up during testing, I expect the move to happen this month (February 2015). I also added a status update on ServerName.
BrandonCsSanders (talk) 14:30, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
What You mean: ported? A rewrite? Just installing? Configuration? Manorainjan (talk) 09:52, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
- You were supposed to say, "You may dispense with the pleasantries, commander. I'm here to put you back on schedule." Leucosticte (talk) 10:56, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
- Apologies, ported was confusing and inaccurate terminology. I'm installing all of the extensions from the most recent version and verifying that they are working. There are a couple remaining. BrandonCsSanders (talk) 19:44, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
While You are at it: Does the current configuration have statistics that allow to see how many visitors the wiki has? Something more than most popular pages, more like x unique visitors in a day/week. Something that shows how important or unimportant this wiki is to the world around it? Manorainjan (talk) 21:28, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
- Current configuration of which wiki? All wikis on the wiki.wiki farm use google analytics in order to get an accurate count of actual people visiting them. This information is not currently published because it is non-trivial to expose it. BrandonCsSanders (talk) 19:32, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
If not published, how is it accessed and by whom?
- Staff from Top Level Design (the company providing the wiki.wiki hosting platform) have access to the google analytics for all wikis hosted on the wiki.wiki platform to keep track of the growth of wikis on the platform. User:Jason can provide updates on WikiIndex traffic once it has been moved to the wiki.wiki platform. BrandonCsSanders (talk) 20:54, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
Test server ready for testing
http://index.wiki/ is a test server hosted on the wiki.wiki platform. It is a clone of WikiIndex.org offering us a chance to test the configuration before moving WikiIndex.org to that platform. Once we're satisfied that it is working appropriately we'll switch wikiindex.org over to that platform (still at http://wikiindex.org rather than at http://index.wiki). Please poke it and describe any problems you uncover on this page. As a reminder, any changes to index.wiki will be lost when it is refreshed from WikiIndex.org. BrandonCsSanders (talk) 20:54, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
ServerMove TODAY!!!!
Unless anyone uncovers big issues with the test site http://index.wiki I'm going to move wikiindex.org to the wiki.wiki platform today. BrandonCsSanders (talk) 15:07, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
- Just noticed that there has been correspondence on http://index.wiki/Talk:BrandonCsSanders ... I'll address those issues before moving. BrandonCsSanders (talk) 15:11, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
