Global blocking is a feature used by such wiki farms as Wikia, Wikimedia, and Brickimedia to keep global vandals, spammers, or other undesirables out.
Accessed through the phalanx function, global blocking is often confused with account disabling, when in fact they are different; global blocking is often forced upon, while account disabling is usually deliberate. However, if a user is globally blocked forever, and it violates the Terms of Use, staff will generally disable the account as well, removing its avatar and profile information.
