:Spammers do whatever works. If they see it does not work, they do not continue. I see the need for taking responsibility from the part of wikiindex users. It is an international bunch of people distributed over quite a number of time zones. But no one has made any commitment at all to take care for spam at a certain time. If spam gets removed in a timely manner because round the clock somebody is watching and taking action, than spammers will very much dislike that.
