The Sci-Fi Independent Wiki Alliance, or SIWA for short, and also known as SIWA Network, is an alliance of independent wikis about sci-fi (science fiction) topics such as TV shows, films / movies, games, and books. SIWA Network was founded 2011.
History
The idea for SIWA came from the Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance (NIWA), except about sci-fi topics. The founding site was the independent Stargate Wiki. Several days later the alliance was joined by a German Stargate Wiki.
Name
SIWA is the acronym for Sci-Fi Independent Wiki Alliance, but Siwa is also name of a large oasis in Egypt; symbolic of how these independent wikis are offered a welcomed respite from the sea of death that is wikis part of some wiki farms.
