This Sci-fi Independent Wiki Alliance has been dead (offline) since early 2014.

The Sci-fi Independent Wiki Alliance, or SIWA for short, and also known as SIWA Network, is a former alliance of independent wiki sites about sci-fi (science fiction) topics such as TV shows, films / movies, games, and books.[1] SIWA Network was founded in 2011 by Escyos.[1]

History[edit]

The idea for SIWA came from the Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance (NIWA), except about sci-fi topics. The founding site was the independent Stargate Wiki. Several days later the alliance was joined by a German Stargate Wiki.[1]

Name[edit]

SIWA is the acronym for Sci-fi Independent Wiki Alliance, but Siwa is also name of a large oasis in Egypt; symbolic of how these independent wikis are offered a welcomed respite from the sea of death that is wikis part of some wiki farms.[1]

Members[edit]

In order to join SIWA, the wiki site must be:[2]

  1. about science fiction
  2. independently run, owned and maintained, that is not part of a wiki farm
  3. have some staying power, e.g. must have been active for at least 6 months and over 250 articles
