Category: Independent — this category here on WikiIndex contains wiki sites that are 'independent'; meaning that they are hosted independently from any wiki farm. Some wiki sites may have been independently hosted from their original creation. Others might have started as independent, but lured into one of the commercial wiki farms (such as Wikia), and then chose to leave and return to independent hosting. Other wiki sites might have originally started on a wiki farm, but subsequently left to become independent.

This category also includes any organisations or alliances which were created to foster and network wiki sites which are independently hosted, or those which seek information and advice on how to leave commercial (or non-profit) wiki farms.
