Restricted wiki

A restricted wiki is one where editing is closed and viewing of pages is also disabled to many or almost all potential users. The Wikimedia Foundation's homepage is a good example: although it is similar in design to many of their open wikis that encourage edits, it is only intended for communicating from the Foundation to the public.

Not to be confused with a locked wiki.
