Template:Wiki Engine

This Category: Planetary is either empty, or sparsely populated,
and needs to be 'populated' with articles, stubs (and / or other categories)
relevant to the subject matter of this specific category.

Include an article page in this category via one (or more) of three methods:
a. add Planetary in the appropriate field of its infobox template
b. 'tag' a word within the prose of the article, eg. {{tag|Planetary}}
c. add [[Category:Planetary]] at the bottom of its edit box.

Planetary is a new wiki engine which is still in development. It was started August 2010 by members of the Jacobs University in Germany and the Knowledge Media Institute at The Open University (OU) in England. It is hosted by Trac.

The Planetary System is a Web 3.0 information portal which is specifically Math-enabled, and combines the social, user generated Web (Web 2.0) with semantic features. Its ethos is that it can be instantiated by a user community to individual "planets" that combine material on a specific topic of joint interest. The fundament difference between sites which use Planetary, and Web 2.0 portals like Wikipedia, is that the 'planets' concentrate on semantic interactions and scientific topics (where semantic annotations of complex objects is worthwhile).

Its wiki syntax is as yet unknown, although it states it is a re-write of the Drupal software, and the software doesn't appear to be available for download yet. [1] It is intended to be released as Free and Open Source Software (FOSS), and indications appear to state it will be released under the GNU General Public License (GPL).
