'''OpenWiki''' <s>is</s> {{tag|Dead|was}} both an {{tag|open source}} {{tag|Wiki Engine|wiki engine}} and {{tag|WikiFarm|wiki farm}} since {{tag|FoundedIn2001|2001}}.  Hosted in {{tag|Europe}}, the OpenWiki software had, for its time, a particularly {{tag|GreatFeature|great feature}}; namely, one of its [[:Category:Wiki syntax|syntax]] commands was '[[archive.org:20131016112025/http://openwiki.com/ow.asp?Index|Index]]' – this opened a page called 'Title Index', which displayed not only a conventional 'search box', but also a highly useful and advanced table consisting of individual clickable 'A to Z' letters and '0 to 9' numbers.  To some, this might seem trivial, but even as of 2017, the mighty [[:Category:MediaWiki|MediaWiki]] does not include this as standard; it needs to be generated by the creation of template, similar to our [[Template:CategoryTOC]].  The [[OpenWiki (OpenWiki.com)]] wiki homepage was at <tt>OpenWiki.com</tt>.  The original OpenWiki wiki engine was [[fork]]ed to [[:Category:OpenWikiNG|OpenWikiNG]], itself now also defunct.

Sadly, OpenWiki.com was closed late 2013 / early 2014 due to heavy {{tag|Spammed|spam}}.  Its former Twitter feed at <tt>Twitter.com/OpenWiki</tt> has been taken over by an unrelated Korean user, who now uses the domain <tt>OpenWiki.kr</tt>, which is for [[OpenWiki.kr]], and uses [[:Category:DokuWiki|DokuWiki]].
