The Open Lathe Project is a project to design and promote a high-quality metalworking lathe, buildable by home shop machinists using commonly available metalworking tools. The project will be done in an "open source" fashion.
The Open Lathe wiki is a place to record the best of these conversations, and to host
- the plans for the latest open-source lathe design
- tips on building that lathe either from scratch or by modifying a previous physical lathe
- instruction manual on how to use that lathe
- tips on adjusting the design if you want to make a new physical lathe that is larger, smaller, or built of different materials, etc.
The wiki content is released under two licenses: TAPR Open Hardware License (OHL) and the GNU GPL.
