"Original research which addresses significant problems is especially appreciated. Dictionary definitions, links to websites, quotations, source texts, and other types of information not acceptable on Wikipedia are welcome. Wikinfo is intended to complement and augment Wikipedia, and, ultimately, surpass it as an information resource, but users are encouraged to continue participation in that community and help make it all that it can be".

In June 2008 there are articles in English, German, French, Croatian, Italian, Portuguese and Latin. The wiki is very much more active.

Pre-March 2007:

Wikinfo.org is a wiki fork of the whole English Wikipedia! The main difference (and perhaps the reason for the fork) is that Wikinfo supposedly tries portray a 'sympathetic point of view' (SPOV) rather than Wikipedias' 'neutral point of view' (NPOV). In reality, the majority of pages are unmodified copies of Wikipedia content.

Major shakeup in March 2007: programmer left, FJB retained leadership, engine switched, change to OpenEdit. From GetWiki to MediaWiki. English Wikinfo has a problem.
