Article about why not to use a non-commercial license.

great wiki page about copyleft: http://www.thetransitioner.org/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=copyleft

Attribution (owner moving wiki)

The Creative Commons license states that, "You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor", but the "licensor" here does not seem to be specifying a way to attribute the work. This seems like it could be important. For example, if someone wants to move the content of this wiki to another site, they may be able to do so without attributing every page individually. If this person owns wikiindex.org, they could shut down this domain to complete this move. Lumenos 16:07, 7 October 2009 (EDT)

(I'm discussing this sort of stuff with MarkDilley in chat right now.) He just posted, "WikiIndex is a community project and will stay in that realm. That was my main value and it was shared by Ray (who registered the domain name wikiindex.org) and John and others who are involved." Earlier Dilley said, "...when I was working on it, with David Cary and others, it was call SwitchWiki" The SwitchWiki article has the "status" marked as "GoalReached". I'm not sure what the "goals" of WikiIndex currently are. Lumenos 16:07, 7 October 2009 (EDT)
From the welcome page: "WikiIndex is about building bridges - between wiki communities and people who start a wiki. We have 4,758 pages about wikis, wiki people and wiki ideas. We strive to share wiki experiences and encourage wiki folk to think about issues in wikidom." --MarvelZuvembie 16:23, 7 October 2009 (EDT)
