The LA Wiki is a wiki based in Los Angeles, California. This city wiki is one of many new Web 2.0 technologies which rely on user-driven content generation. Though historically wikis about cities have had difficulty, the LA Wiki is the fastest-growing city wiki in the United States.[citation requested] The website hoasts entries about the people, events, universtities, bands, places and elements of Los Angeles which are unique. For example, it includes information about local events[citation requested], advice for classes to take or not take at UCLA[citation requested], where to find the cleanest bathrooms in town[citation requested] and how a poor student can best pack a to-go box from the local restaurant buffets.[citation requested]
The LA Wiki also runs on the MediaWiki framework, one of the first city wikis to employ the scaleable technology behind Wikipedia.[citation requested]
