page name redundancy and proposed solution

We have a redundancy, where the name of the WikiIndex page for each wiki, and that wikis name in the template, can be different. I propose the solution that's currently implimented at Template:Wiki Test where PAGENAME is used instead of wiki_name. I'm happy to make that change here, if there are no objections. Is there a potential downside I'm not seeing? Once we make the change to the template, we can then change the boilerplate. This will mean some unnecessary data for all wikis we have entered already, but future entries will be correct, and we can clean them out with a bot or over time, no rush as it doesn't affect anything.
