Hi GreenReaper,

Any idea how to find a list of popular pages in this list. I think it's a new default behavior of MediaWiki (since 1.15.*), to not countig page visits. Regards --Wolf | talk 04:03, 11 November 2009 (EST)

We've deliberately turned off page counts to reduce database load. It wouldn't be accurate, anyway, as we use Squid to cache responses for anonymous users - we get a lot of them! However, we also use Google Analytics to monitor access, and I have a report of popular pages from a few months ago that you might find useful (the additional reports show pages chosen for translation to other languages). You are also welcome to access our Analytics account directly if you have a Google/Gmail account I can add. Bear in mind that we moved to our own hosting just a few months ago; reader traffic is only half of what it was at Wikia, though it is increasing steadily. GreenReaper 11:28, 11 November 2009 (EST)
I see. It's a pity, to have no public source for your wikiFactor. I've no doubt that 50 is true and I hope the green-eyed monsters keep sleeping about this. Regards --Wolf | talk 16:38, 11 November 2009 (EST)I delete(d) the copy on my user page, because this talk is on my watchlist
I agree. That is a downside to Analytics - I've been looking at ways to make data from there more public, perhaps with a special page of its own or using the new "extra statistics" hook added in 1.16, but it requires a fair bit of coding because of the way they handle accounts (it's biased towards firms that want to offer access to customers' accounts, so it's needlessly complex for generating custom reports for your own site). We had over 30 million pageviews in total while at Wikia, which may seem surprising until you consider our coverage includes numerous articles on popular pornography artists and their works, as well as related websites. Thankfully we do not host the works themselves, otherwise our bandwidth bill would go through the roof, but I've already had to do micro-optimizations on a few pages. Hi Green Reaper,

Wikiindex deals also about wiki people, that's why have personal pages in the main namespace. As you know, the MediaWiki software provides notifications about changes in your user talk page, now this service gets not active if somebody wants to contact you on Talk:GreenReaper. Our cross-linking is quite easy: Two pairs of pages, one in the main namespace and the corresponding one in the user namespace were bound thus: add two redirects,

Think about adding a link to the tool functions like User contributions or E-mail this user by hand on your page in the article space.

I made an demonstration image, for the case my English isn't clear enough.

Best regards --Wolf | talk 13:24, 13 November 2009 (EST) ps: nice photo :-)
