Ratchetpedia is an independent wiki focusing on the Ratchet & Clank video game series, developed by Insomniac Games and High Impact Games. The site was founded by Sove and UxieLover1994 on March 31, 2012. Its current goal is to reach 1,000 articles that are deemed by the wiki's staff to be "complete," as well as to "perfect" its templates and develop its own custom skin. It aims to become the best English source of Ratchet & Clank information in the world.
The idea for Ratchetpedia came to UxieLover1994 around October 2011 while she was editing the now-defunct Spyropedia, and after several months of working with Sove — a friend of UxieLover1994 — the site finally came into existence.
Differences in style between Ratchetpedia and Ratchet & Clank wiki
- Ratchetpedia uses present tense. Ratchet & Clank wiki uses past tense, like most sci-fi wikis.
- Ratchetpedia uses templates with materials borrowed from several other wikis. Ratchet & Clank wiki uses the default templates.
- Ratchetpedia claims to have a stricter notability policy.
- Ratchet & Clank wiki claims to have better spelling and grammar standards then Ratchetpedia, and also has foreign language support unlike Ratchetpedia. (Though this is due to the latter having only one member so far)
- Voice actors are given their own articles on Ratchet & Clank wiki. Ratchetpedia links to other wikis such as Wikipedia or Bulbapedia, for voice actors.
- Character articles use the characters' real names on Ratchet & Clank wiki. Ratchetpedia often uses nicknames.
- Ratchetpedia has a strict spoiler policy and its admins always limit the information and content of the articles to ensure that no major spoilers are posted. Ratchet & Clank wiki's articles are more comprehensive and may include spoilers when considered necessary.
- Ratchet & Clank wiki is pro-Wikia and proud of it. Ratchetpedia is anti-Wikia, and jealous of their counterpant's rankings.
Due to these differences the Ratchetpedia administration claims that their wiki is more fair then their wikia counterpart. Ratchetpedia tends to use an editing style similar to that of both the defunct Spyropedia and the Kingdom Hearts Wiki. It aspires to be unique, hopefully with its own unique templates and skin at some point in the future. The site is a strong follower of the IWAs and even wishes to be accepted among the IWA one day. Ratchetpedia has claimed that it will be very happy to affiliate with any wiki that's independent, no matter what size or topic, but will always deny a site that's a part of any wiki farms, especially Wikia.
The site has it's own YouTube account run by UxieLover. A walkthrough for Ratchet & Clank was recently completed and Uxie's now doing a walkthrough for the second game: Going Commando.
