Welcome to the gay-Halifax-wiki, also known as Halifax-gay-wiki, and originally known as Gay Halifax. This wiki site is an encyclopedia and information hub for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual, transgendered, queer, two-spirited, rainbow community in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Its tagline is for all things queer. From 10 February 2020, it changed its name to Halifax Rainbow Encyclopedia (H•R•E).

Founded on 21 November 2001, originally powered by WikiWikiWeb, the HyperPerl-powered first wiki engine from Ward Cunningham. On 13 February 2006, it converted to use the Oddmuse wiki engine.[1]

	The goal of the Halifax Rainbow Encyclopedia is to have a page for every person, place, thing and event of relevance to the Q community in Halifax, ever. As of January, 2022 we have over six hundred thousand words in two thousand finished pages, works-in-progress, or article stubs, and about thirty five hundred images and several dozen hours of audio and video recordings. The Halifax Rainbow Encyclopedia (H•R•E) is designed for easy storage and retrieval of facts, stories, and indexes to the locations of others.
