UnknownWikiURL
Does somebody know why it's two rows between UnknownWikiURL and UnknownRecentChanges? – Smiddle / T·C·S·A 04:27, 21 October 2006 (EDT)
make parallel
What will be better for "wiki-property-values" [1]?
- common link captions
- the links are correct, the caption should not repeat the category, because the property name contains this already (in my opinion "Unknown" is more readible)
- link captions with the same name as the category they link to
- this is the original naming convention...of course
...further considerations YourWikiName is a pseudo-category that should only be used in the wiki-boilerplate. With the Template:If (or future mechanisms) we could hide the "Your"s, show the "Unknown"s and link to the appropriate categories. Btw: in the Template:Wiki/suggestion there are errors: they have to "includeonly" the Unknown-categories, otherwise the templatepage itself is included into categories = not very usably to wikiindex readers (we have to check all the tamplates against this error). I'll fix it (at least for wiki/suggest.) --Peu 02:56, 21 October 2006 (EDT)
- I would suggest:
- the entries on top of the template box right to the logo (user view):
- url
- recent_changes
- etc.
- should be displayed as
- unknown url
- unknown recent_changes
- etc.
- but the paired items later:
- status active
- edit_mode open_edit
- etc.
- should be displayed as
- status unknown
- edit_mode unknown
- etc.
- Don't misunderstand me, the links are more specific then the displayed texrt

- I didn't like the text "Unknown" repeated over and over because I believe the reader will have a tendency not to notice these are actually different fields that can be edited. I believe we want them to appear visually different from each other. And yes, I do understand that we're talking only about the display text, not about the specific categories themselves, which are okay as they are. TedErnst | talk 09:00, 21 October 2006 (EDT)
- By the way, YourWikiStatus, YourWikiTopic, etc, have been seperate categories because they tell us that this item hasn't been reviewed by an editor. If an editor moves YourWikiLanguage to UnknownLanguage, this tells us that we need someone that knows languages to review it. Those in YourWikiLanguage could very well be English, but the person entering that page didn't enter that information. TedErnst | talk 09:00, 21 October 2006 (EDT)
- Both reasons seem reasonable, it's equal to me, but for the unknown captions I would prefer "(unknown wiki language)" to "UnknownWikiLanguage" etc. What do you think? --Peu 17:04, 21 October 2006 (EDT)
