Regarding international relations, the Federal Republic of Germany was a founding member of the {{Wp|European Economic Community}} (EEC) since March 1957 (as {{Wp|West Germany}}), and a founding member of its successor, the politico and economic {{tag|European Union}} (EU) in November 1993.  It is a full member state of the {{tag|United Nations}} (UN) since September 1973 (as West Germany), a subsequent member of the European governmental and legal alliance the {{Wp|Council of Europe}} (CoE) (from July 1950 as West Germany, and from 1990 for the former East Germany following reunification), a member of the {{Wp|International Criminal Court}} (ICC) since December 1998, members of the inter-governmental Group of Seven ({{Wp|G7}}) and Group of Twenty ({{Wp|G20}}) political forum.  It is a member of the {{Wp|European Economic Area}} (EEA) since May 1992, and a founding member (as West Germany) of the {{Wp|Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development}} (OECD) signed in December 1960.  It is also a founder member state of the {{Wp|World Trade Organization}} (WTO) from January 1995.  Germany is a member of the {{Wp|North Atlantic Treaty Organization}} (NATO) military alliance (from May 1955 as West Germany, from 1990 following full reunification), one of the founder members of the {{Wp|Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe}} (OSCE) since June 1973 (as West Germany), a member of the {{Wp|International Criminal Police Organization}} (ICPO, or Interpol) since June 1956 (as West Germany), and one of the founding members of the {{Wp|European Space Agency}} (ESA) since July 1977 (as West Germany).
