This wiki is the home of the [http://sourceforge.net/projects/ipodlinux/ iPodLinux Project]! This page provides the details of an open source venture into porting Linux onto the {{tag|iPod}}. So far, they have successfully ported a customized [http://www.uclinux.org uClinux] kernel to the iPod, and written a simple user interface for it dubbed podzilla. Many additional Applications have been written, adding many capabilities not found in {{tag|Apple}}'s firmware.

Our bootloader allows for you to choose between either iPodLinux or {{tag|Apple}}'s firmware each time you turn on your iPod. iPodLinux is currently safe to install on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation iPods. Development is currently on-going on later generations of {{tag|iPod}}, including the fourth generation click wheel, mini, U2, Photo/Color, Nano, and Video.
