transclusion test[edit]

Mark, I really like this idea. I have modified it to use transclusion so that each wiki still has it's own page that can be linked to individually. One problem I see with that is that it's not all that easy to see *how* to edit either of these individually. Maybe we need a link somewhere? TedErnst | talk 12:41, 3 July 2006 (EDT)

Fantastico Ted!!! This looks great. I see your point about how to edit. Maybe we have a disambiguous statement at the top that points directly to each section? Not sure, but I like the direction! Great!!! The other thing that is a little kooky still are the titles... need to think about that..MarkDilley

Titles? One this page, the structured data shows both with the name "CommunityWiki". What's kooky? TedErnst | talk 16:22, 3 July 2006 (EDT)

Well it is kooky in terms of how you had done disambigous pages prior, that is all. For example, the wiki's are named differently, one is Community Wiki and the other is CommunityWiki - not much differnece, granted, but difference. Maybe not an issue. ;-) MarkDilley

Ok, I see now how you did it. templats.... hmmmm.... looks good, hard to edit, I understand your previous point now. MarkDilley

We have a couple of different issues that may be confusing each other. When I set up this disambiguation, I had CommunityWiki redirecting to Community Wiki. I recommend we do the same now. There is absolutely no reason to have those two pages be different from one another. So that's one issue. Another issue is the data from two different wikis living on the same WikiIndex page, the way you had done. I simply transcluded from both of the existing WikiIndex pages. I didn't create any new templates, but the action is exactly the same as using a template. The : before the pagename refers to the main namespace. And yes, it's difficult to get to the right place for editing. Remember how I wanted an "edit" button in the structured data box months and months ago? Sure would be handy now! :-) TedErnst | talk 17:50, 3 July 2006 (EDT)

lol! I love it, "There is absolutely no reason to have those two pages be different from one another." period! end of discussion! ;-) MarkDilley

box around each entry[edit]

Okay, here's another test. This one puts a box around each wiki entry on the page, and also includes an edit link inside each box. Here are some problems: 1. If the wiki name has a space in it, it has to be written as an underscore instead. 2. At first glance, it's not obvious that this page has more than one wiki on it. We'll need some kind of message at the top, I think. 3. This page is included in all of the categories for both of the pages that appear upon it. Maybe that's okay. Maybe not. 4. The new template I created has a horrible name and will need to be moved if we decide to use this method. Thoughts? Opinons? TedErnst | talk 18:19, 3 July 2006 (EDT)

Confusing[edit]

I'm not clear why CommunityWiki & 'CommunityWiki.org' are separate pages, one transcluding the other (and adding bits). Hard to know where to edit, and I don't see why we don't just have one page, with 'CommunityWiki.org' as a redirect. --Chris Watkins a.k.a. Chriswaterguy talk 02:40, 30 March 2011 (PDT)

By looking at the history, it looks like CommunityWiki page is a Sandbox. You should feel free to create here however you would like Chris! :-) Best, MarkDilley
