For wikis that cover 'archives' and / or archiving as a wiki topic, see: category: Archives.

Category:Archived — this specific category here on WikiIndex is a complimentary addition to classify former wiki sites that are permanently gone for good, never to return; and therefore listed in category: Dead. This category was created because WikiIndex is more than just a 'yellow page' for wikis. We do record history here on WikiIndex: how and when wikis are created, who founded them, what keeps them alive, and, sadly, how they went down. For wiki people dedicated to the craft that is 'wiki', history of wiki sites is still valuable content.

The wikis listed in this category below (collapse and / or scroll down past the wiki status comparison table) have been verified as 'dead'; ie, completely gone for good, and their URLs may either return a '404' error, or may display the site of a domain name host, or advertising, or be taken over by cyber-squatters. However, we have identified that these dead wikis fortunately may have some (or even all) their former pages captured and stored by one of the web archiving services; such as the WaybackMachine from the Internet Archive at Archive.org[1], or the Webpage archive at archive.is[2] (formerly at archive.today), or any other credible digital archiving service with free public access.

To include a wiki site article page, and / or a wiki engine, and / or a wiki farm to this specific 'Archived' category, you must first verify that more than the main page is saved as an archive, and that at least some of the actual content pages are also archived (ideally, a significant quantity of the dead wiki site / engine / farm has been archived). If so, first, edit the relevant article or category page to change all existing (dead) URLs in said dead wiki site / engine / farm article to those of the actual archived URLs from their appropriate archiving service (Archive.org and / or archive.is); in the wiki infobox template (or other appropriate infobox template, such as wiki engine or wiki farm), the size template, and any other wiki URLs which may be included within the prose. Secondly, 'tag' the word archived somewhere within the prose of the article if possible; alternatively, add [[Category:Archived]] at the bottom of the relevant dead wiki site / engine / farm article edit box. Do not change the |status = field in its infobox template to 'Archived', as this is not an acceptable parameter of our structured data, and will flag up as an error.

Accordingly, all of these wiki sites / farms / engines are now 'read only'.
