Das Projekt wurde am 1. März 2008 gestartet.  Bis jetzt haben sich schon 6.350 Benutzer beteiligt wovon 2 zum WeCoWi-Team gehören.  Die Benutzer haben 139.362 Bearbeitungen gemacht und 23.926 Seiten erstellt, darunter sind 12.921 Artikel und 6.418 Dateien dazu kommt noch die Bilder der [[Wikimedia Commons]] Bildbibliothek.
