Some wikis exist in which only specific opinions are acceptable, or even required. Wikis with strong opinions are sometimes political, religious, or secular; or may have other opinions such as environmentalism, or other special interests. Some wikis with strong opinions tolerate dissent. Other wikis delete material that contrasts with their opinions, and treat edits against their opinions as vandalism. However, they may all be subjected to 'edit warring'.

Editors will frequently be comfortable with a wiki where they agree with the prevailing sentiment. Editors who want to argue and disagree with the established opinions of a wiki risk their work being deleted, and can risk being banned.
