- Not to be confused with category: ZIM (file format)
referring to a site which seems
not to be, or include, a wiki.
However, it still refers to, or is
pertinent to the subject of wikis.
ZWI is a new file format, or more correctly, a filename extension, for wikis. Specifically, the .zwi file extension stores a complete wikitext version of an individual wiki article in MediaWiki format, including all of its associated data (actual published revision, list of all contributors, previous revisions, and all embedded media). It also includes a created HTML file, which can display the wiki article in any web browser (without the need for its original wiki engine).
An open file format, .zwi files are compressed (or zipped), and can be shared across different wiki sites, including different wiki software.
The ZWI file format was created March 2021 by Dr. Sergei V. Chekanov for HandWiki, the 'encylopedia of science and computing'. ZWI also works on wiki sites powered by DokuWiki.
