Thoughts

This was a category that some people were using to organize things by location, but it was haphazard, and there were other schemes laying around. It is was being slowly edited out of relevance, though there is now a re-think.

The target category system is currently:

• Browse > wiki lists > wiki location — the root category for all things geographic.
• Browse > wiki lists > wiki location > Cities — the category for all city wikis.
• Browse > wiki lists > wiki location > Earth — the root, or top tier category for a 'tree of geography'.

Each of those categories exists, and has talk pages. The talk pages contain explanations of what's going in in detail, as well as some discussions that were originally on this very talk page (which you can see using the history tab for this page).

Originally proposed to eventually eliminate:

• Browse > wiki lists > wiki location > Places — this very category in a temporary place. However, this specific category can now be used for locations which do not fit within the conventional geographical hierarchical structure.
