Wikinews is a collection of wiki sites which present up-to-date, relevant, newsworthy and entertaining content; without bias, with content that is written by the volunteer Wikinews editors. A linguistic 'project' of the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF), all textual content is released under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 license (CC-BY 2.5), which makes the Wikinews content perpetually available for free redistribution and use. Wikinews was first suggested as a new wiki site in October 2004 by an anonymous contributor. A demonstration site was created at demo.Wikinews.org, and on 2 December 2004, this demo was moved to en.Wikinews.org. A day later, the German Wikinews was created, and late January 2005, four more language versions were created. Throughout 2005 and beyond, further language versions were created.
