WikiAnswers was a wiki-based Q&A project powered by contributors from all walks of life. Anyone could ask, answer or edit questions, building a global Q&A database, covering all topics. WikiAnswers, previously known as FAQ Farm, was acquired by Answers Corporation in November 2006, and is now part of the Answers.com family. It was founded in 2002 by Chris Whitten, a pioneer in the Q&A arena.

WikiAnswers was originally powered by a highly modified form of the MediaWiki wiki engine with a custom skin, and using a Creative Commons license and open editing until April 2009. From shortly thereafter, MediaWiki was abandoned in favour of proprietary software, reducing editing functionality, and ultimately abandoning its 'Wiki' title, abandoning the Creative Commons license and claiming absolute copyright over all submissions (even former submissions under Creative Commons).
