Referata is primarily run by Michaeldsuarez, along with it's founder Yaron Koren, and is hosted by WikiWorks.com. It provides free public wiki hosting (aka a 'wiki farm') using the MediaWiki wiki engine, along with the Semantic MediaWiki plugin and associated Semantic Wiki extensions, and also utilises the OpenID universal login. Referata also offers commercial paid-for wiki hosting, with enhanced[clarify] facilities. All Referata sites support Google Analytics.
