A locked wiki is a wiki which has content available to the public and which may have at one time been open for users to edit, but which has since stopped allowing new submissions. This can be for temporary or indefinite periods of time. WikiLeaks, for instance, converted into being a non-wiki but retains 'wiki' in the name and uses some modified MediaWiki software. MeatballWiki became locked in 2010 after issues with spam, though opened again in 2021.
