Not to be confused with category:Archives – a wiki topic category.

Category:Archived is preferred in addition to category:Dead, because WikiIndex is more than a 'yellow page' for wikis. We do record history, how they are created, what keeps them alive, and, sadly, how they went down. For wiki people, wiki history is content.

The wikis listed in this category below (collapse and / or scroll down past the status table) have been verified as 'dead'; ie, completely gone for good, and their URL may either return a '404' error, or may display the site of a domain name host, or advertising, or be taken over by cyber-squatters. However, these dead wikis fortunately may have some (or even all) their former URLs captured and stored by one of the web archiving services, such as the Internet Archive WaybackMachine at Archive.org[1], or the Webpage archive at archive.is (formerly at archive.today).[2]

To include a wiki article page to this specific category, you must first verify that more than the main page is archived, and that at least some of the actual content pages are also archived. First, where available, please change all existing URLs in said dead wiki article to those of the actual archived URLs from their appropriate archiving service (Archive.org and / or archive.is); in the wiki infobox template, the size template, and any other URLs within the prose. Secondly, please change the 'Status' field of its wiki infobox template to Archived. Alternatively, please add [[Category:Archived]] at the bottom of the relevant articles' edit box.

Accordingly, all of these wikis are, by nature, now read-only.

See also: category:Dormant (for online wikis that could have activity but do not), and category:Dead (for wikis which are offline and failed to be archived).
