Are there certain policies that users should be notified on this Wiki? There seems to be nothing of that sort on the policies. As such, isn't it accurate and fair to say that there's no "right" per se to block anyone without their realization of this at least? Granted, this is common sense to an extent, however it doesn't mean it should not be written either. I'm an administrator here on WikiIndex, talk to one of us :-) |
Hello and welcome to WikiIndex! Great to have you here. I just wanted to say that I agree with you at Category talk:ReadOnly and encourage you to help make it clearer that wiki is more than just a wiki engine. Best, MarkDilley
- I think that there is no consensus on deleting ReadOnly wiki, I would like to explore with you ways to make the above idea stronger, if you are interested. Best, MarkDilley
Sysop
Try putting {{sysop}} on your userpage. Proxima Centauri 10:45, 6 November 2008 (EST)

Conservapedia
Sorry to have made you tag it with the "edit war" template. I did revert twice today but I wasn't planning to continue doing so ad infinitum. No one likes an edit war. I'm new here, but I don't see much in the way of policy of dealing with controversial wikis. I presume that we want to keep relatively neutral. And I'm sure we don't want to go through this every time a contentious wiki battle spills over onto WikiIndex. I'm open to your suggestions. --MarvelZuvembie 01:19, 29 November 2008 (EST)
- By the way, are you the same username on Wikipedia? I spotted it in my watchlist today. (I have a different username over there.) --MarvelZuvembie 20:03, 17 December 2008 (EST)
- Yes. --Elassint talk 20:11, 17 December 2008 (EST)
Congratulations, you are a sysop on 3 Wikis now. You need to ask yourself, do you want more sysopships? Would you rather concentrate on the 3 you've got. If you have many sysops on different wikis you can't give each wiki the time it needs and you don't get the same respect everywhere. Remember you need to spend plenty of time meeting people face to face as well. You are a teen. Your brain is adapted for learning. You need to spend time learning how to deal with face to face relationships. Proxima Centauri 05:28, 25 December 2008 (EST)
Fix wiki
Please fim Local Government & Asset Management Knowledge Base I don't know how to. Proxima Centauri 02:46, 9 January 2009 (EST)
Can you help with this problem?
Someone has a problem. I don't know what to do. Proxima Centauri 09:42, 15 February 2009 (EST)
Please look ofter the wiki.
Please look after this wiki today. I'm not quit well, |'m tired and I've got work to do on other wikis. Proxima Centauri 13:01, 25 February 2009 (EST)
Main namespace
Hello, just wanted to let you know that wiki people in the main namespace is the norm here (pseudonyms stay in the user namespace) - the tagline is that this is a wiki for wikis, wiki people and wiki ideas. Let me know what your thoughts are on that. Best, MarkDilley
Transcendental Meditation
Hi Elassint. I noticed that the meditation that you put into User:Sonia Gallagher is Transcendental Meditation. A lot of meditation is harmless and may help people relax. Many people think TM isn't harmless and I don't like it when someone tries to use a wiki where I'm an administrator to advertise something harmful. I've put links there warning people that TM may cause problems and protected the page so the Transcendentalists can't change it. I hope that'll keep them away. block length
Dear Elassint, thank you for fighting spam and otherwise doing so much to make this WikiIndex a better place.
I suspect you have more experience with blocking users than I do -- would you mind sharing your knowledge at WikiIndex:Blocking Policy ? --DavidCary 08:30, 10 July 2009 (EDT)
Hi
Will you be coming back to Liberapedia? Proxima Centauri 12:18, 25 July 2009 (EDT)
There is unblock request here.
Have You seen how I punish spammers? What I put onto the userpage of User:Dr jack will discourage people from buying what he's trying to sell. Proxima Centauri 11:23, 1 August 2009 (EDT)
Dispute Resolution
Hey, wanted to let you know about this effort in dispute resolution, my suggestion is here, I realize you are involved in one the wiki involved, would appreciate your help in a community manner rather than a sysop manner on this. Let me know what you think about that. ~~ MarkDilley
About that "dispute resolution"...
Hi. Sorry to bug you but we need 3 sysops to get the following articles unprotected. There is basically no one that wants them protected, as far as I can tell. We are not really sure of the purpose of this but, only that you are supposed to decide when we get to move them back out <shrug>. (Notice the statement at the top of these pages):

Hi, I see you are an admin.
Hi, Sorry if I sound rude, but I need help, please see my talk page. --JFrancis 10:33, 5 July 2010 (EDT)

AgileEdge Wiki was a wiki backend once... RIP... Best, MarkDilley
Hosting move
Thanks, that is a better place for sure Raymond King | talk
- How long is the site gonna be down? --Elassint 16:19, 21 August 2010 (EDT)
Yesterday
Site wasn't accepting changes for a bit while we tried to move it. I noticed you were making a bunch of edits at the time, sorry for any inconvenience... We had to roll it back and will try again shortly. The problem is with versions of MediaWiki and PHP, etc. Raymond King | talk
- I didn't encounter any problems yesterday, but I'm not going to edit until the site is moved so I can avoid any problems. --Elassint 20:08, 27 August 2010 (EDT)
- Your good until next weekend, that's probably when we'll try again Raymond King | talk
- Turns out the switch over was made today, please let me know if you see any strange behavior, thanks! Raymond King | talk

(Off topic - a little) @Raymond: Is a version upgrade intended too? Best, Wolf | talk 06:57, 30 August 2010 (UTC) ...I'm sorry for repeatedly [1] asking this question
- We didn't upgrade the version of MediaWiki, but could if thought it was necessary or helpful. I don't think it's hard, but it's also not trivial since there have been some code edits already on this version. We'd need to find someone familiar with MediaWiki installations. Thoughts? Raymond King | talk
Thanks

- You're welcome. I thought those weird doppelganger vandals were ancient history, but they are always easy to spot. Elassint, 09 16 2010
