Wikiversity – Set learning free – is a collection of wikis of the Wikimedia Foundation in different languages, for the creation and use of free learning materials and activities. Wikiversity is a multidimensional social organization dedicated to learning, teaching, research and service. Its primary goals are to:
- Create and host free content, multimedia learning materials, resources, and curricula for all age groups in all languages,
- Develop collaborative learning projects and communities around these materials.
Text is made available under two open content free licenses: the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL), and the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 license (CC-BY-SA 3.0).[1]

Culture
The English Wikiversity is pretty laid back. The sysops show a great deal of restraint, aside from being about as eager as Meta-Wiki sysops to revisiondelete edits on questionable grounds (although the page on the topic theoretically suggests that "Its use should be kept to a bare minimum"). The process for becoming a sysop (known on Wikiversity as a "custodian") involves mentorship and evaluation.
