RationalWikiWikiWiki, or RWWW, sought to critique and mock RationalWiki (RW) and RationalWikiWiki (RWW), and to host discussions deemed too controversial for those sites. It is one of a series of RationalWikiWikiWikis that have been set up over the years.
The site was founded by a disgruntled ex-RationalWiki user who was banned from the site after posting an essay questioning the illegal status of child-adult sex. It was briefly shut down about two weeks after its founding when the same essay was reported to the site's webhost. The site owner chose to move the site to a new webhost rather then delete the essay, and the site was resurrected a few days later. The site went to an "anything-goes free-for-all" format of users importing whatever content they wanted from RationalWiki, RationalWikiWiki, NewgonWiki, BoyWiki, Uncyclopedia, Wikipedia, and other sites.
Eventually, all the site's users went away. First, one of them left due to his concern over the site owner's posting an essay saying that mercy-killing of children, while unethical, might not be the worst possible offense one could commit. Then the site owner was arrested by U.S. federal marshals on 3 December 2012 pursuant to a supervised release violation petition; he was subsequently sentenced to 10 months in prison and did not return until 12 October 2013.[1][2] Then the second-in-command vanished from the wikisphere entirely, leaving no one available to run the site and prevent it from being taken over by spambots. It remains the main archive of content from RationalWikiWiki. On 19 June 2014, the site was taken down permanently.
