Category:AIDS — AIDS is the common acronym for acquired immune deficiency syndrome, which is a follow-on condition of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). AIDS will develop as a late-stage prognosis of a carrier of HIV (often coined 'HIV-positive'), especially if the HIV carrier does not have access to anti-retro-viral drugs. Once diagnosed with AIDS, it is usually fatal to life; with sufferers usually dying within a decade of developing AIDS.

If HIV is detected at an early stage, AND the anti-retro-viral drugs are also administered at an early stage, the HIV carrier will often lead a perfectly normal life, and should not develop any of the symptoms of AIDS.
