Libertapedia is "the libertarian encyclopedia". The site, founded in 2004 as LibertarianWiki.org by Paul Studier, described itself as a "clearinghouse of useful information for libertarian activists" in the United States, and was intended to facilitate collaboration on real-world campaigns and other projects, but is now segueing to a more encyclopedia-like format. In 2010, it switched from an exclusively Public Domain license to a Public Domain/Creative Commons (Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike) hybrid that allows for content to be brought in from Wikipedia. In 2010, a new site owner, Nathan Larson, took over and it was moved to Libertapedia.org. Beginning in 2011, it went down with database errors and was not resurrected until mid-2012.
In 2012, Libertapedia was moved from Bluehost to Dreamhost. 561 revisions were lost from the database, presumably due to a faulty importation in which phpMyAdmin was imprudently used instead of the command line mysql tool. About 530 of these lost revisions had been made between 12 AM and 2 AM on 2 September 2010; these consisted mostly, if not entirely, of IRevenge vandalizing as many pages as he could, stating "Libertapedia blocked me! They hate freedom!" with the edit summary "moar lulz", and Anime Addict reverting the vandalism. For this reason, a few hundred Libertapedia pages have an error that states, "The revision #0 of the page named [page name] does not exist. This is usually caused by following an outdated history link to a page that has been deleted."
An attempt would have been made to restore the lost revisions from the backup, but the external hard drive containing the SQL file from the export fell off Larson's desk, and apparently sustained such bad damage as to render all the data inaccessible.
