It can encompass activities such as transportation of people, including ferries, cruise shipping; the mercantile activities of cargo shipping and logistics; recreation such as sailing; sport such as yacht racing and powerboat racing; buildings and structures such as ports, harbours, lighthouses and other navigational aids; and specific professions such as marine engineering, naval architecture, and the military such as warships and the Royal Navy.
