Template:Wiki Engine JAMWiki is a Java-based wiki engine, and uses the same syntax and many of the features of the popular MediaWiki engine (although it should be noted it is not the same as MediaWiki, which is written in PHP). As detailed by the JAMWiki release archive, it was first available in 2006. It was released for free (FOSS) under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL). In December 2013, it was announced that "Current development on JAMWiki is primarily focused on maintenance rather than new features due to a lack of developer availability. If you are interested in working on JAMWiki please join the jamwiki-devel mailing list".[1] In November 2014, a further announcement was made: "Active development of JAMWiki has ceased, and bug fixes and support will be limited at best. If you are interested in taking over management of JAMWiki please send an email to the jamwiki-devel mailing list".[2] The final appearance of the JAMWiki wiki site was November 2017.[3] As of May 2018, the JAMWiki software is however still available for download from the SourceForge website.
