Template:UnsignedIP/doc

Please note that this template must be substituted. Do not merely use {{unsignedIP}} – instead, please use {{subst:unsignedIP}}.
This template is used to append a 'signature' to anonymous unsigned comments on a talk page from an 'IP editor'; as no User page should exist for anonymous IPs. This template is similar to {{unsigned}}.
Usage
{{subst:unsignedIP | IP address | time, day month year (UTC)}}
- IP address
- IP address of user who left comment.
- time, date
- time and date stamp from edit history.
The time stamps in the edit history list for any talk page appear in UTC, or in the local time that is set in your preferences. If you did not adjust the time in your preferences, then the times in the edit history list are in UTC.
- Talk page times should always be in UTC. So be sure to use UTC time when using this unsigned template. Adjust the time, if necessary, using the difference you designated between the server UTC time and local time. If this is too difficult to figure out, or you are in a hurry, then leave out the time, and only put in the date.

- With time and date parameter(s)
Typing: {{subst:unsignedIP|255.255.255.255|11:15, 24 January 2008 (UTC)}} will yield:
— preceding unsigned comment added by 255.255.255.255 (talk) – 11:15, 24 January 2008 (UTC).
- Without time and date parameter(s)
Typing: {{subst:unsignedIP|255.255.255.255}} will yield:
— preceding unsigned comment added by 255.255.255.255 (talk).
