Powerbase — Public Interest Investigations, is a free wiki encyclopedia of people, issues, and pressure groups shaping the public agenda that is being written collaboratively. It catalogues descriptions and details of public relations (PR) firms, activist groups, and government agencies; as well as the criticisms that are made of these groups from different perspectives.

Powerbase is a venture initiated by Spinwatch in collaboration with LobbyWatch, GMWatch Red Star Research and Corporate Watch, but put into effect by a wide variety of volunteers and independent researchers. Written exclusively in English, the Powerbase wiki concentrates primarily on English-speaking nations; its primary locations are the United Kingdom (where Powerbase originates from), the United States of America, Ireland, and also Israel.

All of our articles were originally covered by the GNU Free Documentation License (GNU FDL, or GFDL), to ensure that they can remain freely available forever. The license subsequently changed to the Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike 3.0 Unported license (CC-BY-SA 3.0), and further changed to Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial 3.0 Unported license (CC-BY-NC 3.0).

Editing is only available to pre-vetted editors who have confirmed via e-mail their real identities, credentials and motives. Powerbase users operate via real names.
