Alemannic, also known as Alemannic German, or rarely Alemannish, is a group of High German dialects. The name derives from the ancient Germanic tribal confederation known as the Alamanni ('all men'). Alemannic dialects in a variety of forms are spoken by approximately ten million people in various parts of several countries; notably Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, France, and Italy.
