GISWiki ist ein von ehrenamtlichen Autoren verfasstes, freies Internet-projekt, das sich ausschließlich mit der Thematik "Geographische Informationssysteme (GIS)" (GIS) beschäftigt. Es handelt sich um ein nicht-kommerzielles Zero-Budget- und Non-Profit-Projekt.

Das Projekt wurde im Februar 2003 als erstes deutschsprachiges WikiWikiWeb zum Thema GIS gegründete.

GISWiki is written by volunteer writers, as a free internet project, which deals exclusively with the subject of "geographic information system" (GIS). It is a non-commercial, zero-budget, and non-profit project.

The project was founded in February 2003 (initially using JSPWiki, converting to MediaWiki on 1 June 2005) as the first German-language WikiWikiWeb on GIS. It releases its content under a dual licensing system, namely: the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) and the Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike 3.0 (CC-BY-SA 3.0).
