Энциклопедический Словарь Фантастики (ЭСФ) — авторский русскоязычный словарь фантастических терминов и названий, составляемый Н. В. Бардичевой. Основной его задачей является максимально полное описание всех понятий из вымышленных миров на основе первоисточников. ЭСФ предназначен как для ознакомления с фантастическими мирами, так и для их сопоставления и анализа, и может использоваться самой широкой аудиторией.
Составляется с 2003 года, первая онлайн-версия, подготовленная С. Р. Восинским, увидела свет в 2007 году. В 2009—2012 годах осуществлялся перенос Словаря в вики-формат при поддержке А. А. Веприка. 22 ноября 2012 года материалы первой онлайн-версии были полностью переложены в новый формат.
Использование движка MediaWiki, однако, не означает, что править словарные статьи может кто-либо, кроме составителя и доверенных лиц. ЭСФ не походит на Википедию и подобные ей открытые энциклопедии.
Словарная статья описывает термин «изнутри», с точки зрения самого фантастического мира, а техническая информация вынесена отдельно. Тем не менее, словарная статья является приближённой к оригиналу переработкой, а не цитатами. В ней содержится максимально возможное количество информации, взятой из источника, включая мимолётные упоминания в контексте, которые отсутствуют в любых других словарях подобного рода. Некоторые понятия и в оригинале упоминаются лишь мимоходом. Поэтому величина словарных статей существенно разнится — от одной строки до нескольких страниц.
Для обработки берутся фантастические произведения на русском языке или переведённые на него. С различными переводами существует сложность в том, что нет какого-то одного каноничного, и форма слов одного отличается от формы слов другого. Как правило, для Энциклопедического Словаря Фантастики выбираются наиболее качественные переводы. Вики-версия позволяет приводить также другие варианты написания терминов для облегчения поиска.
Выбор произведений для Словаря производится по определённой схеме. Кроме того, часто работа над крупным и тяжёлым миром прерывается для разбора небольшого (как, например, это было с анимационным фильмом «Как приручить дракона»). На очереди стоят произведения Шумила, Локхарда, Паолини, Маккефри, Желязны, Герберта, Нортон. На обработку такого объёма могут уйти годы.
Словарь постоянно развивается и дополняется, однако составительская работа лежит только на одном человеке. Развитие ЭСФа во многом зависит от финансовой поддержки, оказываемой пользователями.
Авторское право на термины фантастических произведений принадлежит их авторам. Авторское право на Энциклопедический Словарь Фантастики принадлежит составителю Н. В. Бардичевой.

Encyclopaedic Dictionary of Science Fiction (ESF) — author's Russian-language dictionary of fantastic terms and names, compiled by N. V. Bardicheva. Its main task is the most complete description of all concepts from fictional worlds on the basis of primary sources. ESF is intended both for acquaintance with the fantastic worlds, and for their comparison and analysis, and can be used by the widest audience.
Compiled since 2003, the first online version prepared by S.R. Vosinsky was released in 2007. In the years of the dictionary, the dictionary was transferred to the wiki format with the support of A. A. Veprik. 22 November 2012 the materials of the first online version were completely transferred to a new format.
Using the MediaWiki engine, however, does not mean that anyone other than the compiler and proxies can edit dictionary entries. ESF is not like Wikipedia and similar open encyclopaedias.
The dictionary article describes the term 'from the inside', from the point of view of the fantasy world itself, and the technical information is delivered separately. However, the vocabulary entry is a refinement of the original, not citations. It contains the maximum possible amount of information taken from the source, including fleeting references in a context that are not found in any other dictionaries of this kind. Some concepts are mentioned in the original only in passing. Therefore, the size of dictionary entries varies significantly - from one line to several pages.
Fantastic works in Russian or translated into it are taken for processing. With various translations, the difficulty is that there is not one canonical one, and the form of the words of one differs from the form of the words of the other. As a rule, for the Encyclopaedic Dictionary of Science Fiction the most high-quality translations are selected. The wiki version also allows you to provide other spelling options for terms to facilitate the search.
The selection of works for the Dictionary is made according to a certain scheme. In addition, often work on a large and heavy world is interrupted to parse a small one (as, for example, it was with the animated film 'How to Train Your Dragon'). Next in line are the works of Shumil, Lockhard, Paolini, Mackaffrey, Zhelyazny, Herbert, Norton. It can take years to process such a volume.
The dictionary is constantly being developed and supplemented, however, the compilation work lies with only one person. The development of ESF is largely dependent on the financial support provided by users.
