Edit summary

An edit summary is one of the fundamental concepts of most, if not all, wiki engines. It is generally considered to be a good idea to always fill-in the edit summary field accurately.

When editting an article here on WikiIndex, there is a small field that is labelled 'Summary:' under the main edit box. The text that is written in the edit summary will appear verbatim on the recent changes list, in the page revision history of its related article, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See Help:Edit summary at MediaWiki.org for full information on this feature.

Filling-in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you have changed, so please always fill-in the edit summary field. If you are adding a new section, then please do not just keep the previous section's header in the edit-summary field; please fill-in your new section's name instead. Thank you.
