The ITIL Open Guide is the wiki for the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), which defines the organisational structure and skill requirements of an information technology organisation and a set of standard operational management procedures to allow the organisation to manage an IT operation and associated IT infrastructure. The operational procedures are supplier independent and apply to all items of equipment within the IT Infrastructure.

ITIL was originally created by the Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency (CCTA) under the auspices of the British government, and ITIL is a registered trademark of the UK Government's Office of Government Commerce (usually known as the OGC).

The 'library' itself comprises seven distinct sets: Service Support; Service Delivery; ICT Infrastructure Management; Planning To Implement Service Management; Applications Management; The Business Perspective; and Security Management. Within these sets are the specific descriptions and definitions of the various ITIL disciplines.
