The Left 4 Dead Wiki is a wiki dedicated to the survival horror first-person shooter Left 4 Dead, created by Valve Corporation, which was released on November 18, 2008 for the PC and Xbox 360. Left 4 Dead takes place in several places surrounding Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A mutated strain of the rabies virus has struck humanity, creating a "zombie apocalypse"—though the Infected are not actually dead. There are six variants of the Infected, with the Common Infected being the least mutated; Common Infected, the Hunter, the Smoker, the Boomer, the Witch, and the Tank. From the chaos, four Survivors band together in an attempt to escape the relentless Infection.
A sequel, known simply as Left 4 Dead 2, was announced on June 1, 2009 in Microsoft's press conference at E3 '09. It was released on November 17, 2009, a day before Left 4 Dead's one year anniversary. Among other things, it included new Survivors, both new and old Infected, weapons, a completely new location, and linked campaigns.
The wiki was founded in the May of 2008 by ShadoW. Its ultimate goal is to be the most complete source of information about Left 4 Dead that anyone can edit.
