There may be some [[:Category:MediaWiki|MediaWiki]] extensions we can use to prevent this from happening. I have noticed that some pages get hit more than others, but at other times, it seems like the bot is using the "Random Page" link. If the pages they hit are not random, then protecting the pages would work.
