Yearly categorization was intended to start out, but feel free to add granularity or intervening summarizing time periods if it looks like it's necessary.

*If the wiki site is powered by [[:Category:MediaWiki|MediaWiki]] software, there are a number of ways to look (ideally, use as many of the listed methods to accurately verify its date of founding):

**Go to the 'Oldest pages' at <code>/Special:AncientPages</code> for the wiki and look at the date of the first listed [[article]] (note that this feature lists pages that have not been ''[[edit]]ed'' in a long time, <u>not</u> the oldest pages overall);

**Check the oldest edit of its [[Wiki main page|main page]], eg: <code><nowiki>http://YourWikiURL.org/w/index.php?title=Main_Page&dir=prev&action=history</nowiki></code>;

**Check the date for 'MediaWiki default' at <code>/Special:Contributions/MediaWiki_default</code> made its first contribution;

**View history for a system message (as found in the 'MediaWiki' [[WikiIndex:Namespace conventions|namespace]] – search in [[Special:PrefixIndex]]), and check when 'MediaWiki default' first edited it.

*For [[:Category:Wikia|Wikia]] wikis (now branded as Fandom), the exact date of founding ''used'' to be at <code>/Special:WikiStats</code>, however, this function is now globally disabled; therefore, the above methods for MediaWiki should work.
